DEC AND DHSES OFFICIALS JOIN MORE THAN 20 POLICE AGENCIES TO ANNOUNCE START OF ‘OPERATION BLUE TRIDENT’ ON LONG ISLAND

Operation Blue Trident is a DEC-led, multi-agency homeland security training exercise on eastern Long Island that will deploy more than 100 personnel from 23 local, state and federal agencies to conduct radiological detection training, perform navigational boating safety, marine fisheries compliance, and environmental monitoring operations throughout the week.

This full-scale exercise, the first training of its kind in eastern Long Island, will consist of marine and on-shore elements from Wednesday August 16 through Saturday August 19.  The marine element on Thursday and Friday will employ 24 vessels at various locations across Suffolk County’s east end and more than 50 DEC police and civilian support staff and 50 law enforcement officials from various federal, state and local law enforcement and emergency management agencies.
