American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Announces 2018 Division II & III All-Americans, 2018 Division III Player of the Year & 2018 Division III Coach of the Year

2018 NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey National Championship Tournament Begins Tomorrow in Lake Placid… Tickets Still Available

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Just one day ahead of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey National Championship, Friday and Saturday, March 23-24, in Lake Placid. N.Y., the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced its Division II and III All-Americans, 2018 Division III Player of the Year and its 2018 Division III Coach of the Year.

The NCAA Division II and III men’s ice hockey head coaches recognized 31 hockey players in their divisions by selecting them as CCM Hockey/AHCA All-Americans for 2018. The honorees come from 19 schools, 10 states and four Canadian provinces, as well as one payer from Sweden. (SEE ATTACHED PRESS RELEASE).

UMass Boston’s Colin Larkin was tabbed the 2018 AHCA Player of the Year. The senior forward scored 24 goals this season, along with 22 assists for 46 points in just 27 games played. In 111 games played, he has 148 points. (SEE ATTACHED PRESS RELEASE).

Colby College’s Blaise MacDonald was named the 2018 AHCA Coach of the Year. MacDonald, the former head coach of Niagara University and UMass Lowell, led his club to a 17-10-2 mark after starting the season at 10-10-0. His team is riding a nine game unbeaten streak, including seven wins, as they get ready play tomorrow night, in Lake Placid, against St. Norbert College (SEE ATTACHED PRESS RELEASE).

The 2018 NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Championships get underway in the Olympic Center tomorrow afternoon, at 3 p.m. when Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the 2016 national champions, faces-off against Salve Regina.

The second semi-final game, at 6:30 p.m., pits Colby College against St. Norbert. This is St. Norbert’s fifth Frozen Fours in Lake Placid.

The winners from Friday night play for the 2018 national title, Saturday, at 7 p.m. This marks a record seventh time that the famed Herb Brooks Arena has hosted the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey National Championship.

Listed below is a summary of the upcoming tournament weekend:

FRIDAY, MARCH 23 (SEMIFINALS)
Semifinal No. 1 – Salve Regina (21-5-2) vs. Wisconsin-Steven Point (21-5-3) - 3 p.m.
Semifinal No. 2 – St. Norbert (25-4-1) vs. Colby (16-10-2) – 6:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, MARCH 24 (CHAMPIONSHIP GAME)
Championship Game – 7 p.m.
