Glaziers Recruit Apprentices

Wappingers Falls, NY (August 10, 2018) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for The Finishing Trades Institute of New York at Wappingers Falls, will conduct a recruitment from October 11, 2018 through October 10, 2019 for five glazier apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Please note that the two openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for four recruitment regions, the Capital District, Hudson Valley, Mohawk Valley, and North Country regions. This program’s jurisdiction includes the counties of Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Essex, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington. 

Applications can be obtained at Finishing Trades Institute of New York at 21 Airport Drive, Wappingers Falls, NY from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Thursday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED).
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites and related instruction classes.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in order to operate company vehicles.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
