2019 Lake Placid International Children’s Winter Games Day #4… Final Day

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (Jan. 10, 2019) --- The 2019 International Children’s Winter Games have come to a close, in Lake Placid, N.Y., for the more than 450 young athletes, from 33 cities and 14 countries.

Each of the young athletes, ages 12-15, who participated, will go home with a lifetime full of memories and new friendships. Modeled after the Olympic Games, the International Children’s Games are geared toward friendly competition and international cultural diversity. Athletes had the opportunity to mingle with many children from the various cities around the globe in an enriching environment of cultural exchange.

Since Tuesday, Jan. 8, medals were awarded in eight sports to include Alpine skiing and snowboarding, at Whiteface Mountain, in Wilmington, N.Y.; speed skating, at Lake Placid’s Olympic speed skating oval; Nordic and biathlon, held at the Olympic Jumping Complex; and figure skating and girls and boys hockey, held in Lake Placid’s famed Olympic Center; the home to the “Miracle on Ice.”

Support for the International Children’s Winter Games 2019 is provided by Market NY through the I LOVE NY/New York State’s Division of Tourism as a part of the Regional Economic Development Council awards.
