REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR NY GOVBUY

Statewide Government Buyers Event Will be Held May 2 & 3 at the Empire State Plaza and Albany Capital Center

RoAnn M. Destito, New York State Office of General Services Commissioner, today announced that registration for this year’s NY GovBuy event is now open. NY GovBuy, held on May 2 and 3 at the Empire State Plaza and Albany Capital Center, offers procurement and purchasing professionals the opportunity to receive valuable procurement training and the chance to connect with more than 300 exhibitors and businesses, and other purchasing professionals.

Procurement professionals from state agencies, public authorities, public benefit corporations, local governments, and public schools, as well as non-profit and volunteer agencies such as rescue squads and fire departments are invited to attend. Admission is free, but those who want to attend must register at www.govbuy.ogs.ny.gov/ by April 30, 2018.

“The NY GovBuy event is a prime example of how Governor Cuomo wants to see state and local government agencies collaborating for the benefit of New Yorkers,” Commissioner Destito said. “The Office of General Services, Office of the New York State Comptroller, SUNY, and the State Association of Municipal Purchasing Officials are working together to provide a comprehensive purchasing event for attendees who want to learn how to take advantage of the goods, services, technology, and cost savings that the large variety of businesses on state contract have to offer. NY GovBuy also provides an opportunity for purchasing officials to learn about companies, and especially small businesses, MWBEs, and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses that are seeking opportunities to do business with the state.”

This year’s event includes 19 new training classes, including Buy NY Food; Go Green! Green Procurement Resources; and Reverse Auctions: A New Powerful Procurement Tool. There will also be new classes designed for local officials and other non-state agencies such as How to Write a Purchasing Manual; and Public Procurement and the New Shared Services Environment. Additionally, OGS Chief Procurement Officer Sean Carroll will be conducting a town hall-style meeting on each day of the event, one for state agencies and one for local purchasers. This venue will provide attendees an opportunity to talk with the CPO about what is working and what needs improvement.
