DEC Commissioner Seggos and Elected Officials to Host Trout Stocking and Free Fishing Event at Six Mile Waterworks

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will stock Six Mile Waterworks with 1,000 catchable size rainbow trout during a Free Fishing Event on Tuesday, April 23. Six Mile Waterworks is home to a variety of freshwater fish species including largemouth bass, sunfish, yellow perch, chain pickerel, brown bullhead, and most recently, rainbow trout.

WHAT:          Six Mile Waterworks Trout Stocking event stocked by VanHornesville Fish Hatchery and DEC Free Fishing event.

When stocking is complete, anyone can fish without a fishing license from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Participants must comply with current fishing regulations. DEC Fisheries staff will be available to provide casting instruction and other fishing education as needed. Fishing equipment and bait will be available for people to use. In addition, L.L. Bean will be present to provide fly casting demonstrations.
