Ithaca, NY (June 21, 2019) - The Electricians Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee of Ithaca, Local Union #241, will conduct a recruitment from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020 for 10 electrician apprentices, the New York State Labor announced today.

Please note that the 10 openings listed for Electrician apprentices represent the total number for three regions – the Central, Finger Lakes, and Southern Tier regions.

Applications can be obtained at Local Union #241, 134 Cecil A. Malone Drive, Ithaca, NY, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

The Committee requires that applicants:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED) with one year of Elementary Algebra or Math I. An academic transcript will be required after acceptance into the program.
• Must be physically able to perform the work required, as determined by a physical exam, at the expense of the sponsor, after acceptance into the program.
• Must pass a drug/alcohol screening, at the expense of the sponsor, after acceptance into the program.
• Must be able to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, poles, or towers of various lengths and heights.
• Must be willing and able to commute to any jobsite within the geographical jurisdiction of Local # 241. The jurisdiction includes:
• All of Tompkins County except Groton Township.
• Genoa Township in Cayuga County.
• Catherine, Cayuta, and Hector townships in Schuyler County.
• Covert and Lodi townships in Seneca County.
• Candor and Spencer townships in Tioga County.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from related instruction classes and work within the union’s geographic area.
• Must have been employed or be a resident of Local # 241 jurisdiction for 1 year prior to recruitment
• Must be willing and able to attend all related classroom training, as required.
