OCFS ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF MOBILE RESPONSE UNITS TO STRENGTHEN CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AT RISK OF ENTERING CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM

 

DATE: Thursday, May 26, 2022

 

TIME: 10 a.m.

 

WHERE: Albany County Children’s Center, comprised of the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) and the Children’s Mental Health Clinic

                        260 South Pearl Street, downtown Albany

  • Outside in the parking lot
  • Look for a large white mobile unit

WHO: OCFS Commissioner Sheila J. Poole and leadership team; NYS Assemblymember John McDonald; NYS Office of Victim Services Director Elizabeth Cronin; Westchester Department of Social Services Commissioner Leonard G. Townes; Monroe Department of Social Services Commissioner Thalia Wright; Albany County Department for Children, Youth and Families Commissioner Moira Manning; Albany County Executive Dan McCoy; Trinity/Alliance Executive Director Harris Oberlander

 

WHAT: Delivery of four new mobile response units across the state – one in Albany to Trinity/Alliance – to bring services and resources to support families where they’re located as part of the expansion of primary prevention work. Unit staff develop and operate coordinated programs of community-based family support and family preservation services to reduce child maltreatment, address children’s safety and preserve the integrity of the family unit when possible.
