Morrisonville Mother Gifted a Win $1,000,000 a Year for Life Scratch-off Ticket

SCHNECTADY, N.Y. – Fifty-year-old Pamela Brothers of Morrisonville, Clinton County claimed a $20,000,000 Win $1,000,000 a Year for Life jackpot winning ticket October 21 at the Lottery’s Schenectady Customer Service Center.

Brother’s husband Russell, a self-employed developer, purchased the ticket and gave it to Pamela to claim, calling himself a “great husband.”

Russell Brothers was in the Champlain Mall in Plattsburgh looking at upcoming construction projects when he decided to get a haircut.  While he was waiting, he purchased several Win $1,000,000 a Year for Life scratch-off tickets at International Currency on Smithfield Boulevard.  His first two tickets were non-winners, but he decided to purchase one more which turned out to be the jackpot winner.  Brothers immediately called Pamela to tell her the news, but she wasn’t convinced he had really won until she saw the ticket for herself.

Pamela Brothers chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum of $15,505,300 (net $10,261,408). She said she and her husband will use the Lottery prize to pay off the mortgages on their rental properties, get new equipment for the family business and buy cars for themselves and their two children.  They also enjoy travelling to New York City and hope to purchase an apartment there.

Brothers is the 115th New Yorker to claim a Lottery prize of $1,000,000 or more so far this year.

The New York Lottery contributed $17,363,545.30 in Lottery Aid To Education to school districts throughout Clinton County during fiscal year 2012-13.
