The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced that the Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Parkway is closed until further notice due to ice that recently formed on the roadway and creates an unsafe condition for motorists.

The closure is expected to last through the weekend and requires the cancellation of DEC’s planned event allowing the public to enjoy Prospect Mountain’s views for free in honor of Veterans Day. The Parkway was slated to close for the season on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019.
