Henry Hudson Bridge Manhattan-bound Lane Closure Starting February 20, 2018 |
|
As part of the ongoing work to rehabilitate the upper and lower level roadways of the bridge, one lane of the Manhattan-bound Henry Hudson Bridge is scheduled to close starting Tuesday night, February 20, and be in place for the morning rush hours on Wednesday, February 21. This work is being done on an accelerated schedule and the closure is anticipated to last 19 months. For the duration of this time, two Manhattan-bound lanes will remain open during peak travel hours. This is part of the previously announced $86 million project to replace the last remaining sections of the 1930s era roadway deck. A signature part of this project will be the removal of columns and toll islands from the old toll plaza on the lower level roadway, which will improve traffic flow and allow for a smoother ride across the bridge. In spring 2018, the lower level pedestrian walkway will also be closed and a free shuttle service will be provided to carry pedestrians and cyclists. Motorists should allow for additional travel time or choose an alternate route. Motorists can sign up for MTA e-mail or text alerts at www.mta.info and check the Bridges and Tunnels homepage or Facebook page for the latest information. |
