Queens Man stays Loyal to Lotto for 20 Years and Finally hits the Jackpot

Forty-nine-year-old Luigi Macchione of Queens has stayed loyal to the twice weekly drawn Lotto game for 20 years.  On May 30 Macchione’s loyalty paid off.  His $1 Quick Pick ticket for that night’s drawing matched all six numbers drawn earning him the $9,500,000 jackpot.

“I’ve been playing Lotto for 20 years,” said Macchione.  “I like Lotto because you get two sets of numbers for a dollar.  It’s a better deal and better odds than Mega Millions and Powerball.”

Macchione purchased his ticket on the day of the drawing, but checked the results a few days later.  “I scanned the ticket on June 2 and the machine kept beeping saying I had a big winner!  I couldn’t believe how much noise it was making!”

The winning Lotto numbers for the May 30 drawing were 1-25-36-40-56-57.

Macchione purchased his jackpot winner at JR Auto Services on St. Nicholas Place in Manhattan.  He opted to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment and will receive a net check totaling $3,872,793 after required withholdings.

“I still can’t believe it,” said Macchione.  “I plan to invest the winnings with the hopes of retiring a few years earlier than I originally planned.”

Queens Man Wins $10,000,000 on Lottery Scratch-off Ticket

Thirty-five-year-old Andres Chung of Queens sat in shock when the $10,000,000 Cash scratch-off ticket he purchased ended up being a jackpot winner.  Chung purchased his ticket during a stop for breakfast on his way to work.

“I was on my way to work and stopped at my usual place for breakfast,” explained Chung.  “I had won $40 on this ticket in the past so I decided to give it another try.”

Chung scratched the ticket on the way back to his car.  “I scratched it and then ran to the car.  I must have sat there just staring at it for thirty or forty minutes.”

Chung purchased his jackpot winner at the Flushing Mini Food Market on 35th Avenue in Flushing.  He will receive is prize as a one-time lump sum totaling $6,330,400 after required withholdings.

Queens County’s newest Lottery multi-millionaire knows exactly how he will spend his newfound fortune.  “I’m going to stop paying rent and buy a nice house.”

As of this writing there is one outstanding top prize available on the $10,000,000 Cash ticket.  Players may check the status of any New York Lottery Scratch-off game by clicking the Instant Games Reports link at nylottery.ny.gov.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.37 billion in fiscal year 2017-2018 to help support education in New York State. The Lottery’s contribution represents approximately 13 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education. It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
