WEEDSPORT, N.Y. -- The New York Lottery today announced the jackpot winning ticket for the October 17 Lotto drawing was sold at the Pit Stop at 2770 North Street in Weedsport. The ticket is worth $42,500,000.

It has been more than ten months since someone has hit the Lotto jackpot prize, which started on November 22, 2014 at $2,000,000 and has rolled 95 times to get to Saturday’s $42,500,000 jackpot. This is the largest Lotto jackpot since May 16, 2009’s $41 million jackpot.

“We are excited to see such a large jackpot prize for our flagship Lotto game. Lotto is synonymous with the New York Lottery, generates winners only in New York and has been generating winners and providing millions of dollars in aid to education to school districts throughout New York State for nearly 37 years,” said Gardner Gurney, Acting Director of the Division of the Lottery.

In addition to the jackpot prize for the Lotto drawing, which was won by matching six out of six numbers, there were a total of 36,494 Lotto winners across all prize levels other than the top prize.

The winning numbers for the October 17 Lotto drawing were 01-09-11-16-19-22, Bonus Number 37.

The Lottery encourages everyone who bought a New York Lottery draw game ticket, to check their tickets again, as they could be holding a winner. Tickets expire one year after the game’s drawing.

The winner may claim the ticket at any of the Lottery’s Customer Service Centers statewide, including the Syracuse office at 620 Erie Blvd. West, Syracuse, NY 13204.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.11 billion in fiscal year 2014-2015 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 14 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
