The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced the 41st annual Fall Festival at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are invited to enjoy a day of activities that celebrate nature, featuring interactive exhibits, live animals, musical performances, and games. This event is co-hosted by Friends of Five Rivers, the non-profit support arm of the DEC Environmental Education Center located in Delmar.

“Five Rivers is thrilled to announce the 41st annual nature-focused event at DEC’s beautiful facility,” said Gina Jack, Center Director. “This family-friendly event makes for the perfect Saturday outing with something to enjoy for all generations and abilities.”

In addition to 25 interactive exhibits, Five Rivers staff will offer bass casting, an insect safari, children’s games, and nature crafts. There will be a ‘Meet Pond Critters’ display in the Guided School Program building, along with food and music offerings during the event. Smokey Bear and Ollie the Otter are also scheduled to make special appearances throughout the day, in addition to live animals from Uncharted Wild.

The Five Rivers Fall Festival will be held rain or shine with free parking and admission. Carpooling is encouraged. Five Rivers is located at 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar. For a complete list of festival activities, visit the Friends of Five Rivers website (friendsoffiverivers.org).
