Metro-North to Upgrade Middletown-Town of Walkill Station Parking Lot

Station Improvement to Enhance Commute for West of Hudson Customers

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that West of Hudson customers can look forward to a smoother ride at the Middletown-Town of Walkill station. On July 23, Metro-North crews will begin work improving the station’s parking lot, restoring the facility to a state of good repair.

The 750-space parking lot and access road in Middletown will be milled, paved and restriped, renewing the lot to benefit nearly 2,000 weekly boarding riders. Metro-North crews will eliminate potholes and uneven surface conditions and install new and enhanced striping and traffic symbols on the pavement surface. Metro-North anticipates it will complete the project before the end of August.

“Improvements to station parking lots and station buildings make a difference to our customers and help enhance the day-to-day experience of riding Metro-North,” said Catherine Rinaldi, Metro-North President.  “In small and grand ways, we’re working to upgrade our infrastructure every day.”

Approximately half of the parking lot will be taken out of a service at a time so that crews can perform the milling, paving and restriping.  To accommodate the parking lot upgrade, at certain times of the day, access to the road off North Galleria Drive will be reduced to one lane, single direction traffic. The work will not impact access to platforms or train service.
