Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #3 Niagara Falls/Buffalo

Buffalo, NY (September 14, 2017) – The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local Union #3, will conduct a recruitment from October 3, 2017 through October 2, 2018 for four bricklayers, mason apprentices, four pointer apprentices, caulker and cleaner apprentices, four tile setter apprentices, and four tile, marble, and terrazzo finisher apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications can be obtained at Local Union #3, 1175 William Street, Buffalo, NY from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month, excluding holidays, during the recruitment period. 

Applicants must pay a $5.00 application processing fee at the time of application. Please note: You may request that this fee be waived. Fee waivers will be approved upon showing verifiable proof of financial need.

The Committee required that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a minimum of a 10th grade education.
  • Must pass a drug test, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to indenture.
  • Must be a resident of Allegany, Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Orleans, Genesee, or Wyoming County.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work and related instruction.
  • Must provide DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, if applicable, after selection and prior to indenture.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
