STATEMENT FROM MTA CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER MARIO PÉLOQUIN ON EXPANSION OF CITY ‘FAIR FARES’ PROGRAM:

“We’re glad the City is expanding ‘Fair Fares’ so that more New Yorkers will have access to this important program. The MTA stands ready to assist the City in any way possible to ensure New Yorkers living below the poverty line have access to half-price transit services.

“The MTA is committed to providing the most affordable transportation options possible to all New Yorkers who rely on us to get where they need to go, including work, doctors, school, and more. Expanded ‘Fair Fares’ joins existing programs to provide transit access that include discount MetroCards for senior citizens and free MetroCards for students.

“More information on the City’s program is available by visiting the Fair Fares website, where applications are available online at nyc.gov/fairfares.  Details and assistance are also available by calling 311.”
