The jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing is $415,000,000. The $53,500,000 jump from Wednesday’s jackpot is due to brisk sales across all 44 participating Powerball states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot was $361,500,000 and produced over 172,800 winning tickets in New York State. The largest was a $1,000,000 second prize sold in Suffolk County at the Exxon station at 1490 5th Avenue in Bay Shore. With Saturday’s Powerball jackpot now at $415,000,000, New York will see even more winners across the state.

If no one matches all five numbers plus the Powerball in Saturday’s drawing, the jackpot will continue to grow. Tickets for Saturday’s Powerball drawing can be purchased until 10:00 p.m. EST. There are over 17,600 convenient retail locations throughout New York State where players can purchase New York Lottery tickets.

To win the Powerball jackpot, players must match five numbers from a field of 1 through 69 and one Powerball number from a field of 1 through 26. Tickets cost $2 per game.

Lottery players are reminded to ask their Lottery retailers for the Power Play feature where for just an extra dollar, lower tier prizes multiply by two, three, four, or five times.

The largest Powerball jackpot across all participating states to date was $1.58 billion, won in California, Florida and Tennessee on January 13, 2016.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.30 billion in fiscal year 2015-2016 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 14 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
