Raymond Shove of Ontario was finishing up a long work week and decided to stop for a cup of coffee and a Lottery ticket before heading home.  The first store he spotted wouldn’t make him a cup of coffee so he continued onto the Fastrac on Route 104.  Shove purchased his coffee and a $5Million Fortune Lottery ticket and went home for the night.

“I brought my coffee and ticket down to the basement where I unwind and scratch my Lottery tickets,” explained the construction worker.  “I’ve played this game for a while, but I was pretty shocked when I realized I won the jackpot.  I was looking for the gag.”

Shove calmly put his ticket away and went to bed.  “I didn’t even tell my wife.  I slid it under some newspapers and went to sleep.”

Shove will receive his $5,000,000 prize as a one-time lump sum payment totaling $3,309,000 after required withholdings.

“I’ve never had this kind of money so I’ll probably invest most of it.  Take care of the family and plan for the future,” said Shove.

Shove is the 7th New York Lottery player to claim a prize totaling $1,000,000 or more this year.

The New York Lottery contributed $23,965,409 in Lottery Aid to Education to school districts in Wayne County during fiscal year 2016-2017.
