New Stretch of Erie Canalway Trail to Open

Who:               Representatives of New York State Parks, local and state government officials

What:              Ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of a new 5-mile section of the Erie Canalway Trail

When:            11 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018

Where:           Pattersonville Trailhead -- Located on the north side of the intersection of Route 5S and Route 160 (Scotch Church Rd)

State and local representatives will join trail users to officially open a new five-mile section of off-road Erie Canalway Trail from South Amsterdam to Pattersonville.

The Erie Canalway Trail is a part of the state 750-mile Empire State Trail. Last year, New York State launched creation of the Empire State Trail, a continuous 750-mile route which will span the state from New York City to Canada and Buffalo to Albany, creating the longest multi-use state trail in the nation.
