Evening with New York Rangers caps second phase of a 13-month renovation, which was funded by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s NY Works initiative

What:              Celebrate reopening of a $2.6 million overhaul of 20-year-old rink with activities throughout the afternoon and evening including Try Hockey for Free clinic, youth hockey games and an exhibition hockey game with Rangers Alumni.

When:              4:30-5:00pm- Riverbank Ice Rink Press Conference

                        5:00-6:00pm – Try Hockey for Free Clinic

                        6:00-7:00pm – Youth Hockey Games

                        7:30pm– Alumni Exhibition Hockey Game

Where:             Riverbank State Park, 679 Riverside Drive, Manhattan.

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey will join state leaders, New York Rangers and Chase Host Rangers Assist to celebrate a $2.6 million renovation of the Riverbank State Park ice rink in Harlem courtesy of Governor Cuomo’s New York Works program. The evening will include skills clinics led by members of the New York Rangers professional hockey team, youth hockey games, and skating and an exhibition hockey game featuring Rangers alumni.

The Riverbank rink is used by approximately 400,000 people a year for learn-to-skate programs, open skating programs, figure skating programs, hockey leagues and roller skating. Completed in 1993, Riverbank State Park is a unique 28-acre multi-level landscaped recreational facility rising 69 feet above the Hudson River, located atop a water pollution control plant.
