Hudson Line Service Reduced on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9

Service Change Will Accommodate Crucial Improvements to Hudson Line

MTA Metro-North Railroad reminds customers that Hudson Line service will be reduced this coming Saturday, October 9, and Sunday, October 9, with local trains between Croton-Harmon and Grand Central operating every hour instead of every half-hour. A limited number of additional trains will be operating during both northbound and southbound peak travel times. Regularly scheduled service will resume on Monday, October 10.

This weekend’s service change will support track work crucial to the on-going safety and reliability of the Hudson Line.  Metro-North crews will be completing the final phase of a project to replace switches in the vicinity of Yankee Stadium. Other improvements that will be underway this weekend include: removing a speed restriction at Highbridge Yard, welding track north of Marble Hill and installing ties in various locations on the Harlem Line.

Some regularly scheduled Saturday and Sunday trains will not be operating this weekend. While trains service will be reduced to an approximate hourly basis, Metro-North will provide more frequent train service during the busiest weekend travel times.  Additional trains to Grand Central Terminal will be operating between 10 a.m. and noon, and additional trains to Poughkeepsie will be operating between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.  Furthermore, some trains that operate between Grand Central Terminal and Poughkeepsie will operate in two sections – Grand Central/Croton-Harmon and Croton-Harmon/Poughkeepsie – and will require customers to transfer at Croton-Harmon.
