The Long Island Rail Road will operate special service to Mets-Willets Point Station for customers attending the Meadows Music and Arts Festival at Citi Field and Flushing Meadows in Queens from Friday, Sept. 15, through Sunday, Sept. 17. Trains will continue to stop at Mets-Willets Point until each day’s event has ended and all fans have been accommodated from the event, which runs 11:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day.

 

Eastbound service will begin with the 8:50 a.m. train from Penn Station on Friday. Saturday and Sunday’s first eastbound train from Penn Station to stop at Mets-Willets Point will run at 9:47 a.m. Customers traveling westbound to the fest from Eastern Long Island should consult branch timetables for service to Woodside, then transfer to eastbound Port Washington Branch trains on Platform B for service to Mets-Willets Point.

 

The Meadows Music and Arts Festival is promising Brooklyn’s own Jay Z to headline the first show on Friday. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend over the three-day affair, which is set to include performances by a variety of artists from Future to Erykah Badu to Weezer to Red Hot Chili Peppers and Queenbridge’s Finest, Nas. The specially curated eclectic culinary lineup is sure to please every taste palate and dietary preference with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options for sale from New York City eateries like The Nugget Spot’s chicken nuggets (and veggie nuggets), fresh juice from John’s Juice, ramen burgers from Ramen Burger, artisanal doughnuts from Dough and Luke’s lobster rolls.

 

Beer, wine and cocktails will also be available for sale – and since camping overnight is not allowed at the festival grounds, per New York City parks department rules – plan your LIRR route for after the last set to ensure a safe ride home.

 

LIRR customers can save money by buying rail tickets before boarding. Customers must have LIRR tickets ready for presentation upon exiting the train at Mets-Willets Point; LIRR tickets will be inspected at that station.

 

In between selfies and snaps of your favorite musicians, don’t forget to have your phone’s battery charged to display etickets on the eTix app for your return trip. In the event that an eticket cannot be displayed, customers will need to purchase a paper ticket at the station of pay the higher onboard fare while on the train.

 

And if you’re using paper tickets, don’t forget to take your train ticket with you when transferring at Woodside and have it ready for presentation at Mets-Willets Point.
