New York State Media Availability Prior to Community Availability Session on Gowanus Canal Area Cleanup Sites

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will hold a media availability at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, in Brooklyn on the investigation and cleanup of contaminated sites in Gowanus. DEC experts will update media ahead of Thursday's community availability session at 7 p.m. at the school. During the community availability session, DEC and the New York State Department of Health (DOH) will provide information about New York State’s comprehensive oversight of nearly 50 cleanup sites in the Gowanus Canal area through the Brownfield Cleanup and State Superfund programs.
