These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, Station work in Queens and Manhattan, and ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade work throughout the MTA New York City Transit subway system, to maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to provide MTA customers with safe and reliable service.  More information on the 2015-2019 Capital Program is available here.

This weekend, work crews will be dispersed throughout the entire subway system to perform a variety of critical tasks in the areas of track replacement and maintenance, signal modernization, station enhancements, electrical upgrades and communication improvements.  All this work is aligned with the MTA Subway Action Plan, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and modernize the subway system by attacking the key drivers of 79 percent of delay-causing major incidents and strategically targeting additional personnel and equipment to focus on critical parts of the system.

TripPlanner+ is an online tool that provides customized travel guidance based on available service and takes weekend service diversions into account.  In addition, customers can receive customized subway status emails or texts by signing up at www.MyMTAalerts.com.

At all times until Winter 2018-19, downtown  trains skip 238 St due to station improvements related to the construction of new stairways from both the street to the mezzanine level, and the mezzanine to the platform level.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from improved structural elements such as new stairway canopies, handrails, treads and risers, new gutters and drain pipes, and lighting installation.  As an alternative, take the Bx9 to 231 St, or take an uptown  to 242 St and transfer to a downtown .  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here.    

At all times until Nov. 2018,  trains will skip 145 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  The 145 St  line station opened more than a century ago in 1904.  As crews make critical repairs to the station infrastructure such as concrete and metal platforms, stairs, beams and columns, they will also work to modernize the station with enhancements to all entrances including stairs, LED lighting, digital signage providing real-time service information, and new turnstile areas with security cameras and brighter lighting.  Countdown clocks and Help Points, which allow customers to communicate quickly with staff for assistance or emergencies, will be installed throughout the stations.  New station furniture and platform safety enhancements such as tactile edge warning strips also will be installed to improve customer safety.  During this closure, use nearby stations at 148 St , 145 St , or 135 St .  Use M7 and M102 buses along Lenox Av, or the Bx19 along 145 St and transfer to the subway with a MetroCard.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here. 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10,  trains will not run in both directions between 96 St and 148 St due to track maintenance south of the Harlem-148 St Terminal.   service will operate between New Lots Av and 96 St, and via the  to 137 St, the last stop.  Free shuttle buses will operate between 148 St and 135 St.  Transfer between  trains at 96 St and between  trains and free shuttle buses at 135 St. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10,  trains will not run in both directions between New Lots Av/Crown Hts-Utica Av in Brooklyn and Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan due to signal improvements in the Joralemon Tube.   service will operate between Woodlawn and Bowling Green.   service will operate all weekend and extend to New Lots Av.  For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take the  or  via transfer at Fulton St. 

At all times until Dec. 2018,  trains will skip 28 St in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.   The 28 St  station is one of the oldest in the subway system, since it opened on the day that subway service began in October 1904.  See the first  entry above for project details.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby  stations along Park Av South at 33 St or 23 St.  Or, use the nearby 28 St  station Broadway.  Local buses are also available along Lexington Av and Madison Av.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, downtown  trains run express from 125 St to Grand Central-42 St due to track replacement between 125 St and Grand Central-42 St.  As an alternative, use an uptown  local or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Grand Central-42 St, 59 St, 86 St or 125 St.

Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7,  service will end early between E 180 St and Bowling Green due to track maintenance.  As an alternative, and for service between Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, take the  or .

From 7:45 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9,  trains will not run between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse due to track maintenance.   service will operate between Bowling Green and 149 St-Grand Concourse.  Transfer between  and  trains at 149 St-Grand Concourse.  As a reminder,  trains from Manhattan skip 138 St-Grand Concourse; take the . 

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, free shuttle buses will replace  trains between Dyre Av and E 180 St due to track replacement at Eastchester-Dyre Av.    trains will run every 20 minutes between Bowling Green and 149 St-Grand Concourse/E 180 St.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Eastchester-Dyre Av and E 180 St, all weekend.  Transfer between shuttle buses and  trains at E 180 St. 

From 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9, Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall bound  trains will run express from Parkchester to Hunts Point Av due to track maintenance south of the Parkchester station.  As an alternative, use a Pelham Bay Park-bound  to complete your trip.  Transfer at Hunts Point Av or Parkchester. 

From 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, Manhattan-bound  trains run local from Euclid Av to Broadway Junction due to drain cleaning as part of the Subway Action Plan.  To continue your trip, transfer at Rockaway Blvd. 

At all times until late Sept. 2018  trains skip 163 St-in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  Refer to the first  line entry above for a detailed description of renovations and project details.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 168 St , 155 St , or 157 St  instead.  Use M3, M100 or M101 buses and transfer to the  at 168 St or 155 St with MetroCard.  Need to transfer to another bus?  Ask the M3, M100 or M101 driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which is valid on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 168 St or 155 St for a transfer to the bus. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, downtown  trains run local from 59 St-Columbus Circle to W 4 St due to track replacement south of the Canal St station and in the Cranberry Tube.  Downtown  trains are rerouted via the  line from W 4 St to Jay St-MetroTech.  For service to Spring St, Canal St, and Chambers St, take the  via transfer at W 4 St.  For service to Fulton St, take the  to/from World Trade Center.  For service to High St, use the nearby York St  station.  As a reminder, uptown  trains skip Spring St, and  trains do not run overnight.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, uptown  train will run express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle due to electrical improvements at W 4 St-Wash Sq.  As an alternative, use a downtown  local,  or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 59 St-Columbus Circle, 42 St/Port Authority, 34 St-Penn Station, 14 St, W 4 St-Wash Sq, or Canal St.  As a reminder,  trains do not run overnight. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, downtown  trains skip 155 St and 135 St due to station enhancements at 163 St.  As an alternative, use an uptown  local, or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 125 St, 145 St, or 168 St.  As a reminder, the 168 St station is closed for renovations and  trains do not run overnight.

Beginning 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7,  service will end early due to ongoing station enhancements at 167 St and 174-175 Sts.  As an alternative,  line customers should take the  and/or  instead.  As a reminder,  service does not run on weekends.

At all times until early and late Oct. 2018,  trains will skip 72 St and 86 St, respectively, in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  See the  entry above for project details or click here.

• For service to/from 72 St, use nearby  stations at 81 St-Museum of Natural History and 59 St-Columbus Circle. Or take the  along Broadway.  Use an M10 bus along Frederick Douglass Blvd and transfer to the  ( overnight) at 81 St or 59 St with MetroCard.
• For service to/from 86 St, use nearby  stations at 81 St-Museum of Natural History and 96 St. Or take the  at 86 St, along Broadway.  Use an M10 bus along Frederick Douglass Blvd and transfer to the  ( overnight) at 81 St or 96 St with MetroCard.

For either station, if you need to transfer to another bus, ask the M10 bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at 81 St, 59 St, or 96 St for a transfer to the bus.

At all times until Dec. 2018,  trains will skip 174-175 Sts in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  As an alternative, customers are advised to use the nearby Tremont Av  or 170 St  stations.  Use the Bx1 or Bx2 along Grand Concourse and transfer to  trains at Tremont Av or 170 St with a MetroCard.  For either station, if you need to transfer to another bus, ask the driver for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent at the Tremont Av  or 170 St  station for a transfer to the bus.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, and listing of nearby bus routes, click here. 

At all times until Jan. 2019,  trains will skip 167 St in both directions MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  As an alternative, customers are advised to use the nearby stations at 170 St , 167 St 4, or 161 St-Yankee Stadium .  Use the Bx1 or Bx2 along Grand Concourse and transfer to the subway at 170 St  or 161 St-Yankee Stadium  with a MetroCard.  Use the Bx35 along E 167 St and transfer to the  at 167 St station with a MetroCard.  If you need to transfer to another bus, ask the bus operator for a MetroCard Bus Transfer which can be used on your next local bus ride within two hours.  On your return trip, ask the station agent for a transfer to the bus.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10., Manhattan-bound  trains skip 170 St, 161 St-Yankee Stadium, and 155 St due to ongoing station enhancements at 167 St and 174-175 Sts.  As an alternative, use a Norwood-205 St bound D train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 145 St or Tremont Av.  As a reminder the 167 St and 174-175 Sts stations are closed for renovations. 

From 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, FN trains and free shuttle buses will replace trains between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and 34 St-Herald Sq due to track replacement north of the DeKalb Av station.   trains will run between Norwood-205 St and 34 St-Herald Sq.   trains will run via the  line in both directions between Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, in Brooklyn.  For service between Manhattan and Brooklyn, take the  via transfer at 34 St-Herald Sq.  For service to W 4 St and B’way-Lafayette St, take the  via transfer at 34 St-Herald Sq.  Free shuttle buses will run between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Grand St, stopping at B’way-Lafayette St.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, uptown  trains skip Spring St and 23 St due to electrical improvements at W 4 St-Wash Sq. Use a downtown  local,  or  to complete your trip.  Transfer at 34 St-Penn Station, 14 St, or Canal St.  As a reminder, downtown  trains will not stop at Spring St.   

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10,  trains run local in both directions between 71 Av and Roosevelt Av due to signal modernization along the Queens Boulevard Line.

At all times until Dec. 2018,  trains will skip 57 St in both directions due to due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  Beyond repairing deterioration at this station, when this project is completed, customers will benefit from new station entrances enhanced with digital signage providing real-time information, countdown clocks, new railings or canopies, and brighter, more energy-efficient lighting, upgraded turnstile areas with glass barriers, security cameras, new information centers and digital dashboards.  Platforms will be outfitted with new platform edge warning strips, accessible boarding areas, new seating furniture, digital dashboards with wayfinding information and new countdown clocks.  For alternate service during this closure, use nearby stations at 57 St-7 Av , 5 Av/59 St , 7 Av , 5 Av/53 St , or 47-50 Sts .  Local buses are also available along 5 Av, 6 Av and 57 St.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, and listing of nearby bus routes, click here. 

At all times until Dec. 2018,  trains will skip 23 St in both directions due to due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  The 23 St  station opened around the time of World War II, in December 1940.  These extensive repairs will fix structural defects and deterioration, and include functional station improvements, leading to an enhanced customer experience for approximately 31,000 daily riders who use the 23 St  station.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby 34 St-Herald Sq or 14 St  stations along 6 Av.  Or, use the nearby 23 St  station on Broadway.  Local buses are also available along 6 Av and 7 Av.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, and listing of nearby bus routes, click here. 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, free shuttle buses will replace  trains between Bedford Nostrand Avs and Court Sq due to proactive track maintenance and infrastructure repairs on the  line at Flushing Av and Nassau Av, and station improvements at Greenpoint Av, including the installation of three new elevators and other updates to make the station fully accessible.  We are working hard to ensure that  service will be safe and reliable when more customers will be using the line and  stations as alternative service during the  train tunnel reconstruction.  This weekend,  service will operate between Church Av and Bedford Nostrand Avs.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Bedford Nostrand Avs and Court Sq.  Transfer between  trains and free shuttle buses at Bedford Nostrand Avs.

At all times until late Summer 2018, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound  trains skip 121 St due to station rehabilitation work.  For service to this station, take the  to Sutphin Blvd and transfer to a Broad St-bound .  As a reminder, Broad St-bound  trains skip 121 St from 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. on weekdays; take the  instead.  For service from this station, take the  to 111 St and transfer to a Jamaica Center-bound . 

At all times until Jan. 2019, Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound  trains skip 104 St due to station rehabilitation work.  Use a Manhattan-bound  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at Sutphin Blvd, 111 St, or Woodhaven Blvd.  As a reminder Jamaica Center Parsons/Archer-bound  trains also skip 121 St at all times until late Summer 2018 due to station rehabilitation work.

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, free shuttle buses and/or  trains replace  trains between Hewes St and Broad St due to structural steel improvements at Marcy Av.   service will operate between Jamaica Ctr and Hewes St.  Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service between Hewes St and Delancey-Essex Sts.  Transfer between trains and buses at Hewes St and/or Delancey-Essex Sts  line station.  For service between Delancey-Essex Sts and Broad St, use  to/from nearby stations via transfer at Bleecker St/B’way Lafayette St.  Transfer to/from the  at Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.  For service to/from Manhattan, use the  or  via transfer at Broadway Junction.  

Beginning 8:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7,  service will end early between 71 Av and Myrtle Av due to track maintenance at W 4 St-Wash Sq. 

From 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, free shuttle buses and/or  trains replace  trains between Delancey-Essex Sts and Myrtle Av due to structural steel improvements at Marcy Av.   trains will operate between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av.  For service between Delancey-Essex Sts and Hewes St, use free shuttle buses.  For service between Hewes St and Myrtle Av, take the .  As a reminder,  service between 71 Av and Myrtle Av will end at 8:15 p.m. on Friday night. 

At all times until Fall 2018, Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  trains skip Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St due to station rehabilitation work at nine stations on the Sea Beach Line.  When finished, this will yield a better travel experience for our customers including the installation of elevators at 8 Av and New Utrecht Av stations, providing our mobility impaired customers with better accessibility, upgraded communication systems, installation of Help Point intercoms, new stairways and handrails, reconstructed platforms and overpasses, repairs to canopies and columns, and artwork.

• For service to these stations, take the Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound  to Bay Pkwy or Coney Island-Stillwell Av and transfer to a Manhattan-bound .
• For service from these stations, take a Manhattan-bound  to Bay Pkwy or 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-Stillwell Av bound .
• For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St or Coney Island-Stillwell Av.

At all times until Feb. 2019,  trains will skip Broadway and 39 Av in both directions due to MTA’s Enhanced Station Initiative project.  When this project is completed, customers will benefit from critical structural and safety repairs and improvements to concrete and steel features such as columns, beams, platforms, walls and stairs. There will also be other improvements and upgrades such as improved waterproofing, a reconfigured mezzanine area including new glass barriers, new security cameras, LED lighting for increased light and energy efficiency, and enhanced signage for easier navigation including digital, real-time service change and train and bus arrival information.  For alternate service during this closure, use the nearby open Astoria line stations at 30 Av, 36 Av, or Queensboro Plaza via the Q102 bus.  For a graphical guide to these alternate travel directions, click here. 

At all times until July 2019,  trains will run local in both directions between 59 St and 36 St in Brooklyn due to structural rehabilitation work to repair and replace steel columns, lighting, ventilators, and deteriorated concrete, and perform water mitigation work to address water seepage in the express tunnel between the 59 St and 36 St stations.   trains will stop at 53 St and 45 St in both directions.

From 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, free shuttle buses replace  trains between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and 59 St due to electrical improvements at the 8 Av station.   trains will run via the  line in both directions in Brooklyn.  Free shuttle buses will make  line station stops to/from Coney Island-Stillwell Av.  For service to 45 St, 53 St, and 59 St, take the .  Transfer between  and  trains at 36 St.  For service to stations between 59 St and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, transfer to/from free shuttle buses at Coney Island-Stillwell Av, New Utrecht Av, or 59 St . 

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, free shuttle buses replace  trains between Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza due to track replacement south of the 39 Av station.   service will operate between Queensboro Plaza and Coney Island-Stillwell Av.  Free shuttle buses will make all  line station stops between Ditmars Blvd and Queensboro Plaza.  Transfer between trains and buses at Queensboro Plaza.  As a reminder,  trains skip Broadway and 39 Av in both directions until Feb. 2019 due to station renovations.  

From 11 p.m. Friday, Sept 7. to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, Manhattan-bound  trains are rerouted via the  line (Lower Manhattan) from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to Canal St due to track replacement north of DeKalb Av station.  Manhattan-bound  trains will make station stops at DeKalb Av, Jay St-MetroTech, Court St, Whitehall St, Rector St, Cortlandt St, and City Hall.  As a reminder,  trains will stop at 53 St and 45 St in both directions until July 2019 due to structural rehabilitation work in the tunnel.    

From 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, uptown  trains skip 49 St due to electrical improvements between Times Sq-42 St and 57 St-7 Av.  As an alternative, use downtown  local or  train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 57 St-7 Av or Times Sq-42 St. 

From 11:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday to Monday, Sept. 7 to Sept. 10, uptown  trains skip 49 St due to electrical improvements between Times Sq-42 St and 57 St-7 Av.  As an alternative, use downtown  or  local train to complete your trip.  Transfer at 57 St-7 Av or Times Sq-42 St.
