Electricians Recruit Apprentices

Pearl River, NY (April 24, 2019) – USIS Electric, Inc. will conduct a recruitment from April 29, 2019 through April 29, 2020 for 24 electrician apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications will be available at USIS Electric, Inc., 35 West Jefferson Avenue, Pearl River, NY, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Applicants must apply in person and be prepared to allow up to one hour for the application process to be completed. Applications must be received no later than April 29, 2020.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED), including one year of high school algebra.
  • Must verbally attest that he/she is physically able to perform the work of the trade, which may include:
    • Pulling cable
    • Lifting up to 50 pounds
    • Carrying 25 pounds
    • Climbing ladders
    • Standing or working 90% of the day and sitting approximately 10% of the time
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites and related instruction classes.
  • Must be a resident of Orange, Putman, Rockland, or Westchester County in New York, or Bergen County in New Jersey.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
