Newburgh, NY (May 25, 2016) – The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local Union #5, will conduct a recruitment from May 23, 2016 through May, 22 2017 for five bricklayer, mason, and plasterer apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today.

Applications can be obtained at Local Union #5, 1 Scobie Drive, Newburgh, NY from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Monday, excluding holidays, during the recruitment period.  All applications must be postmarked no later than 05/22/17.

The Committee required that applicants:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED).

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
