ADVISORY: MTA to Remove Low-Hanging Beams from Penn Station LIRR Concourse as Part of Ceiling and Corridor Expansion |

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) leadership will join Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin to show the latest improvement to the LIRR Concourse with the removal of low-hanging beams known as “head knockers” and provide an update on the MTA’s ongoing reconstruction of Penn Station’s LIRR Concourse to create open space by raising ceilings and widening corridors. Photo-op will follow remarks. Please Note: All attendees must wear a mask or face covering, regardless of vaccination status, along with appropriate footwear (work boots, hiking boots, etc.) Media will also be provided with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) to walk behind-the-scenes in non-public construction areas. 11:45 a.m.– Mandatory arrival time 12:00 noon – Event start time 33rd Street Corridor – Near Midpoint MANHATTAN
