Glenmont , NY (July 27, 2015) - The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Eastern New York Laborers Training Center will conduct a recruitment from August 21, 2015 through August 19, 2016 for 10 skilled construction craft laborer apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today. Please note that the 10 openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for the Capital District and Mohawk Valley regions. This program’s jurisdiction includes the counties of Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, and Washington. The Eastern New York Laborers Training Center trains apprentices for the Albany Laborers Local Union #190 and for the Schenectady Laborers Local Union #157. Applications can be obtained at the Eastern New York Laborers Training Center, 666 Wemple Road, Glenmont, NY; the Eastern Contractors Association, 6 Airline Drive, Albany, NY; and the Schenectady Laborers Local Union #157, 105 Clinton Street, Schenectady, NY, on the third Friday of each month from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities. |
