ADVISORY: LIRR President to Open Temporary Shinnecock Hills Station for U.S. Open

Long Island Rail Road Shinnecock Platform to Welcome First Arrivals on June 7

MTA Long Island Rail Road and the USGA today announced two exciting media opportunities at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on Thursday, June 7.

At 10 a.m., the USGA and the Long Island Rail Road will officially open the temporary Shinnecock Hills train platform. The 10:09 a.m. train will deliver the U.S. Open Trophy to the iconic home of the 118th U.S. Open Championship, which will be held June 11-17.

The arrival of the first train will coincide with the official opening of the U.S. Open Merchandise Pavilion.

WHAT:                     LIRR Service Begins at Shinnecock Station & U.S. Open Pre-Championship Merchandise Pavilion Opening

WHEN:                     Tomorrow, Thursday, June 7 — Assemble at 9:45 a.m. to prepare for arrival of 10:09 a.m. train

WHERE:                   Shinnecock Hills LIRR Train Platform at Corner of N.Y.S. Route 27 and Tuckahoe Road, Town of Southampton

PARKING:                Please follow directional signs for complimentary parking at SUNY Southampton University

From the West using I-495 Eastbound

Follow I-495 East. Take Exit 70 from I-495 East for CR 111 (Manorville/Eastport). Turn right onto CR 111 South for 5.2 miles. Turn left onto NY 27 East and follow for 15.7 miles. Turn right onto Tuckahoe Lane for 0.7 miles. Turn right onto CR 80 West/Montauk Highway for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto Tuckahoe Road and follow signage for Pre-Championship Parking.

From the West using Southern State Parkway Eastbound

Follow Southern State Parkway toward Eastern Long Island. Take Exit 44E for NY 27 East toward Montauk. Merge onto Sunrise Highway South Service Road for 0.5 miles. Use the left lane to merge onto NY 27 East and follow for 40.3 miles. Turn right onto Tuckahoe Lane for 0.7 miles. Turn right onto CR 80 West/Montauk Highway for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto Tuckahoe Road and follow signage for Pre-Championship Parking.

From the East using NY 27 Westbound and Montauk Highway

Follow NY-27 West/Montauk Highway. Continue straight onto Hampton Road for 1.4 miles. Turn left onto Windmill Lane for 0.2 miles. Turn right onto Hill Street for 1.5 miles. Continue onto CR 80 West/Montauk Highway for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto Tuckahoe Road and follow signage for Pre-Championship Parking.
