RoAnn Destito, New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner, today announced the third year of the popular summer program, Fitness at the Plaza presented by BlueShield of Northeastern New York. This year, the free Tuesday and Thursday evening workout classes at the Empire State Plaza will run from June 4 through August 29.
“We at OGS are thrilled to continue offering this free, post-workday exercise program that for the past two years has been helping people keep fit at the Empire State Plaza,” Commissioner Destito said. “BlueShield of Northeastern New York is a generous sponsor of healthy activities throughout the year here at the Plaza, and we are grateful for their continued support of Fitness at the Plaza.”

"We're excited to continue our partnership with the Office of General Services to offer another season of free, outdoor fitness classes in the heart of downtown Albany."
Fitness at the Plaza classes are free and open to individuals of all ages, regardless of fitness level or experience. The classes will be held outside from 5 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday on the grassy area between Agency Buildings 2 and 3, weather permitting. The rain location will be in the The Egg Center for the Performing Arts’ Hart Theatre Lounge. Classes will not be held the week of July 4.
Classes
All participants will be required to sign a waiver to participate. Attendees are encouraged to pre-register at www.empirestateplaza.ny.gov to sign the waiver and to be contacted regarding schedule updates. Walk-ins are also welcome. Class participants are encouraged to bring a personal exercise mat.
