Buses to Replace LIRR Overnight Trains on Ronkonkoma and Port Jefferson Branches from 1 to 4 a.m. Nov. 16 for Track Work

Project Will Also Impact One Oyster Bay Branch and One Montauk Branch Train

 

Buses will replace two Ronkonkoma Branch and three Port Jefferson Branch trains on the Main Line between Jamaica and Hicksville tomorrow morning from 1 a.m. until 4 a.m. to allow the Long Island Rail Road to make switch repairs at Nassau Interlocking in Mineola. The work will result in some cancellations and schedule changes for one Oyster Bay Branch train and one Montauk Branch train.
 
Customers should consult the Special Timetables for the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson, Oyster Bay and Montauk branches for Wednesday, November 16, which can be found on at http://web.mta.info/lirr/Timetable/. Printed copies of the Special Timetables can be found at all LIRR terminals and branch stations. Here are some of the more significant schedule changes:
 
Ronkonkoma Branch
Eastbound
  • The 1:20 a.m. from Penn Station will terminate at Jamaica. Customers will board buses to Hicksville where train service will resume to points east. Please plan for 43 minutes of additional travel time.
  • The 3:15 a.m. from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma departs 37 minutes later at 3:52 a.m.
Westbound
  • The 12:46 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma due to Penn Station at 2:06 a.m. will depart 33 minutes earlier at 3:52 a.m.
  • The 1: 46 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma to Penn Station will terminate at Hicksville. Customers will transfer to buses for transportation to Jamaica, then connect with trains to points west.
 
Port Jefferson Branch
Eastbound
  • The 12:39 a.m. from Penn Station to Port Jefferson will terminate at Jamaica. Customers will board buses to Hicksville where train service will resume to points east.
  • The 1:02 a.m. train from Penn Station to Huntington will terminate at Jamaica. Customers will board buses to Hicksville where train service will resume. Customers should expect up to 68 minutes of additional travel time.
  • The 1:42 a.m. from Penn Station to Babylon normally has a Port Jefferson connection at Jamaica. However, due to the track work, Port Jefferson-bound customers should take an earlier train departing Penn Station at 12:39 a.m. and board buses at Jamaica, travelling to Hicksville for the Port Jefferson-bound train. That train is scheduled to leave Hicksville at 2:29 a.m. and arrive at Port Jefferson at 3:33 a.m.
  • The 3:07 a.m. train from Penn Station to Huntington will depart 30 minutes later at 3:37 a.m.
Westbound
  • The 12:16 a.m. train from Huntington due to Penn Station is canceled. Customers can take the 12:35 a.m. westbound train instead.
  • The 1:36 a.m. from Huntington to Penn Station will terminate at Hicksville. Passengers will detrain and board buses to Jamaica to connect to points west. Customers should expect up to 79 minutes of additional travel time
  • The 2:23 a.m. train from Hicksville to Penn Station is canceled.
 
Oyster Bay Branch
Eastbound
  • The 1:47 a.m. train from Jamaica to Oyster Bay will leave Jamaica 1 hour and 8 minutes earlier than normal at 12:39 a.m. Connections from western terminals have also been adjusted earlier.
 
Montauk Branch
Eastbound
  • The 1:10 a.m. train from Jamaica to Montauk will NOT stop at Hicksville. Customers bound for Hicksville will be provided substitute bus service from Jamaica to Hicksville. Customers bound for the Montauk Branch who normally board this train at Hicksville will instead board a bus for the trip to Montauk.
