Long Island Rail Road Announces Additional Grand Central Madison Virtual Public Meetings

Given extensive interest in new built-from-ground-up Grand Central Madison draft timetables, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) today announced two additional virtual public meetings so senior LIRR leaders can receive feedback about the proposed schedules. Members of the public will have the ability to offer public comments on the new timetables at all remaining meetings that will be livestreamed on YouTube and Zoom and do not require registration to view.

“Our service planners used the opening of Grand Central Madison as an opportunity to take a completely fresh look at the schedules, something that has not been done in more than 30 years,” said LIRR Interim President and Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi. “Because this will be such a major change, we wanted the public to be able to see the draft timetables months ahead of time and offer input before the timetables are finalized.”

The meetings will be held on the following dates:

Thursday, Aug. 4 – 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 11 – 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Members of the public wishing to speak at the meeting should register here. Due to a high volume of registered speakers at previous meetings, registered speakers will be limited to 250 per meeting. Registration to speak Aug. 4 will open July 28. Registration to speak at the Aug. 11 opens Aug. 4.

LIRR staff will be utilizing the Zoom Q&A function so that members of the public also have the ability to submit written questions. Those wishing to submit written comments on the draft schedules can do so by filling out this form on the Grand Central Madison homepage.

More information about the virtual public meetings and will be posted to https://new.mta.info/grandcentralmadison.
