Wappingers Falls, NY (September 9, 2013) - The IBPAT Painters and Glaziers Local Union #155 NJATC will conduct a recruitment from September 18, 2013 through September 11, 2014 for five painter, decorator, and paperhanger apprentices, State Labor Commissioner Peter M. Rivera announced today.

Please note that the five openings listed for painter, decorator, and paperhanger apprentices represent the total number for all four regions: the Capital District, Hudson Valley, North Country, and Mohawk Valley regions.

Applications can be obtained at Local Union #155 NJATC, 21 Airport Drive, Wappingers Falls, NY from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

The Committee requires that applicants:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a minimum of a 10^th grade education.
• Must provide military transfer card or discharge form DD-214, if applicable.

Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner.  Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status.  Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs.  Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
