Sheila E. to Perform at Capital Concert Series Presented by Miller Lite at the Empire State Plaza

Concert Moved Indoors to the Empire State Plaza Convention Center

What: Percussionist and singer Sheila E. will perform at the free Capital Concert Series Presented by Miller Lite. Born into a musical family, Sheila E. is a drummer, singer, songwriter, author, humanitarian, and icon who follows the beat of her own drum and considers music to be the purest form of self-expression.

Albany’s own Wurliday will open the show. The funk band is led by guitarist and songwriter Justin Hendricks and fronted by vocalist Ilana Morris, bringing forth a combination of funk, soul, and songwriting.

When: 5:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 17

Where: Due to the forecast for inclement weather, the concert has been moved indoors to the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

Sponsors include Miller Lite, CDTA, County Waste & Recycling, Broadview Federal Credit Union, Renaissance Albany Hotel, Times Union, and B95.5.

The following bag policy is in effect for indoor events: 

  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags no larger than 12" x 6" x 12" will be allowed. 
  • Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand) will be allowed and do not need to be clear. 
  • For patrons with young children in attendance, diaper bags are allowed and are subject to search. 
  • Larger and other types of bags will not be allowed. There is no storage or check-in for prohibited bags.
