The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Trout Unlimited and other partner organizations, and state and local officials will hold an announcement at the historic Caledonia Fish Hatchery to kick off this weekend’s Caledonia Trout Festival with a historic investment in New York State’s hatchery system. The funding supports the first of three phases of modernization projects for 12 hatcheries located across the state that will be integral to ongoing effective fisheries management and contribute to the $5 billion in economic impacts already provided by New York’s recreational freshwater fishing industry.
