OGS TO HOLD PUBLIC AUCTION FOR BATAVIA ARMORY

Single-Family House in Buffalo Also Being Auctioned

New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn M. Destito today announced public auctions for the Batavia Armory at 235 State Street in Batavia and another state-owned property at 6 Courtland Avenue in Buffalo will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20. The auctions will take place in the Walter J. Mahoney State Office Building, 65 Court Street, Hearing Room 4, in Buffalo with registration beginning at 10 a.m.

“The auctioning of surplus state-owned properties are part of Governor Cuomo’s initiative to right-size government and have generated approximately $27 million in revenues for New York since 2013,” OGS Commissioner Destito said. “The sales result in the properties being placed back on the tax rolls and the state no longer having to bear the expense of maintaining these un-needed and unused properties.”

Description of the Batavia Armory, 235 State Street:

This 4.6-acre property in Genesee County includes the one-story, 12,000-square-foot brick armory building with a 4,386-square-foot drill hall and a partial basement. Also on the property are an 11,896-square-foot maintenance garage/storage building, a 100-square-foot concrete block storage shed, and a large, paved parking lot.

Open Houses: Open houses at the Batavia Armory will be conducted:

  • Thursday, September 10 – 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, September 22 – 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Monday, October 5 – 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

$60,000 ($6,000 deposit required to bid)

Description of 6 Courtland Avenue:

Located in the Kenfield neighborhood of Buffalo, Erie County, 6 Courtland Avenue is a single-family, two-story brick residence with a detached two-car garage, covered porch, and driveway. The 2,408-square-foot residence, features five bedrooms, and two bathrooms on a 50 by 102-foot lot. The property is close to major highways, shopping and many recreational opportunities at sports venues and public parks throughout the region.

Open Houses: Open houses at 6 Courtland Avenue will be conducted:

  • Friday, September 11 – 9 am. To 11 a.m.
  • Monday, September 32 – 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 6 – 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Minimum Bid:

$19,000 ($2,000 deposit required to bid)

Terms for the properties:

The properties are being sold “as-is.” Prospective bidders are encouraged to obtain professional advice, prior to the public sale to assure compliance with building codes and any planned use of the property. They are also encouraged to contact a financial institution prior to the auction in order to obtain pre-contract credit clearance and borrowing guidelines.

Interested bidders will be required to present an initial deposit in the form of a certified check or bank draft in order to register. Checks should be made payable to either the Commissioner of General Services or the bidder.

A 5 percent broker’s commission will be paid by the State of New York to a qualified real estate broker who represents the successful bidder at the time of the closing. Bidder and broker affidavits must be submitted to OGS Legal Services by 4 p.m. on Friday, October 16.
