Whiteface Mountain Slides Open2015-’16 Season Passes are on Sale Now |

WILMINGTON, N.Y. --- The Slides are open. These are four favorite words for Whiteface Mountain skiers and riders. A series of steep, narrow chutes, the Slides are open only when Ski Patrol deems them safe. This is expert-only terrain—35 acres of in-bounds, off-piste, double black-diamond wilderness skiing accessible by hiking from the top of the Summit Quad. A beacon probe and shovel are required today to ski or ride the Slides. This Sunday, March 15, the Olympic mountain is celebrating a Shamrock Super Sunday, presented by Bud Light. Ski and ride all day for just $48 for adults, $42 for teens and $35 for juniors when purchased in advance, online, at www.whitefacelakeplacid.com. After a super day of skiing and riding the east’s greatest vertical, the party moves upstairs to the Cloudspin Lounge for Bud Light drink specials and games. While at Whiteface be sure to grab your 2015-’16 SKI3 pass for Whiteface Mountain, in Wilmington, N.Y., Gore Mountain, in North Creek, N.Y., and Belleayre Ski Resort, in Highmount, N.Y. The SKI3 pass is available through April 24 for just $759 for adults and seniors, $399 for young adults and college students and only $299 for juniors. Plus skiers and riders, who are 70 and older, can purchase the pass for only $210. For those looking to ski just Whiteface next season, there’s still the very popular Whiteface Only Non-Holiday pass for just $459, when purchased by April 24. Get your pass now and ski the rest of this season free. Don’t forget that all March long, it’s Springfest at the Olympic mountain. There’s a great lineup of events throughout the entire month to include this week’s NCAA national ski championships. Other events include “First-Tracks,” every Saturday and Sunday, the Apple Butter Open, March 21-22; the Grommet Jam, Sunday, March 22; Maple Weekend, March 28-29; and the Whiteface Snoweater, March 28. Plus there’s plenty of music with the Cloudspin Lounge’s Rock the Face concert series. For 24 consecutive years, readers of SKI Magazine have tabbed Whiteface Lake Placid number-one in the east for Off-Hill Activities. The magazine’s readers also named Whiteface their fourth favorite spot in the east for Après Ski and Nightlife. The 2015 survey also tabbed Whiteface as the 10th top ski resort in the eastern United States.
