Clarkson and RPI Hockey Square off January 7

Tickets on Sale Now

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Two teams going in opposite directions square off Saturday, Jan. 7, when ECAC Hockey rivals Clarkson and RPI meet at the Lake Placid Olympic Center. The Golden Knights (9-7-3, 5-3-1) have gone 6-2-2 in their last 10 games, while RPI (3-16-1, 1-9-0) have lost nine of their last 10.

Clarkson’s offense is beginning to hit its stride. The Golden Knights are averaging three goals per game during the stretch and have climbed into four place in the ECAC Men’s Ice Hockey standings.

Meanwhile, RPI’s offense continues to sputter. The Engineers are averaging just two goals over the same 10 game span.

The January 7 match-up is the second and final regular season game between the two schools. Clarkson traveled to Troy, N.Y., on Nov. 11, and scored three goals in the third period to come away with a 5-2 victory. After that win, the Golden Knights went unbeaten in eight straight before losing two in a row just before the holiday break to Harvard, 7-3, in Dec. 3, and 3-1 to St. Lawrence, Dec. 9.

Following their loss to Clarkson, RPI dropped five straight before traveling to Arizona State, Nov. 25, and beating the Sun Devils 2-0.

Both teams have begun their holidays breaks. Once the break’s over, Clarkson opens the second half of their season at Northeastern, Dec. 30, while RPI travels to Harvard, Dec. 30, and UMass Lowell, Jan. 3.

Tickets for the Jan 7 game, at 7 p.m., are on sale now and can be purchased through Tickets.Com, by phone, 518-523-3330, or stopping into the Olympic Center box office, 2346 Main St., Lake Placid, NY 12946. Tickets are $15 for adults and just $10 for students and seniors.
