LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- The gold medal winning 1980 USA Hockey Team, who achieved what Sports Illustrated proclaimed, “the greatest sports moment of the 20^th century” with their “Miracle on Ice” victory over the Soviet Union, will participate in a “Relive the Miracle” event in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The 1980 Rink- Herb Brooks Arena will open its doors to fans on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. for an exclusive event with the players.  This February marks the 35^th anniversary of their historic achievement.

The tentative schedule of events for the evening is as follows:

5:30 p.m. -  Fans purchasing the VIP ticket experience will enter the building for a meet and greet with the 1980 USA Hockey Team players and tour of the 1980 team locker room.

6:30 p.m.– Doors open for general admission ticketed fans, concourse and video board activities

7:30 p.m. – Program begins with player introductions.  Segments of program include “The Journey,” “The Steps,” “The Miracle,” and “The Gold.”  Audio, video, memorabilia, and interviews will be incorporated within the program, which is moderated by 11-time Emmy Award winner Todd Walsh. 

9:00 p.m. - Program ends with the raising of fallen teammate Bob Suter’s jersey to the rafters of the 1980 Rink-Herb Brooks Arena and the National Anthem.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their authentic 1980 Winter Olympic memorabilia. General admission tickets for the event will be $19.80 and available at www.miracleonicereunion.com and the Olympic Center box office in Lake Placid.  VIP tickets are also available.

The event is part of the 8^th annual Hockey Weekend Across America, a three-day nationwide celebration of the sport that begins on Friday, Feb. 20.  As part of the final day of HWAA on Sunday, NBC presents its Hockey Day in America broadcast coverage, featuring an NHL tripleheader, with a live studio show throughout the day and night from Lake Placid.
