FARMINGTON, N.Y. – William Little, of Farmington, Ontario County won $1,000,000 on the New York Lottery’s Ice Bank scratch-off ticket.

Little said he plays the Lottery almost every day.

“I was in the market and saw this new game in the machine. I always like to play the new games, so I bought a ticket,” said Little. “I started to scratch the ticket and saw that the number 23 matched up. Then I saw ‘Jackpot 1 Million’ underneath the number and I almost fell down the stairs in shock.”

Little bought his ticket at Wade’s Market at 6179 Route 96 in Farmington and claimed his prize on January 26.

Little chose to receive his $1,000,000 Ice Bank prize in a one-time lump sum payment. He will receive a net check totaling $522,822 after required withholdings. Little said he plans to use some of his prize money to go on vacation.

Little is the 12th New Yorker to claim a New York Lottery prize of $1,000,000 or more in 2015.

The New York Lottery contributed $22,082,785.03 in Lottery Aid To Education to school districts in Ontario County during fiscal year 2013-2014.

About the New York Lottery

The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.17 billion in fiscal year 2013-2014 to help support education in New York State.  The Lottery’s contribution represents 15 percent of total state education aid to local school districts.

New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.  It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
