WHAT:           New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Interim Commissioner Sean Mahar will join representatives from the Billion Oyster Project and students from the Urban Assembly New York Harbor School to deploy 50,000 one-year-old oysters into the Head of Bay section of Jamaica Bay. The installation, which media will be invited to view from a boat, will mark a major milestone towards the goal of adding two million oysters to the site and restoring a self-sustaining oyster population in Jamaica Bay.
