Office of the Medicaid Inspector General Launches Improved Web Site

Customer-Friendly Site Offers Ease of Navigation for Provers, Taxpayers, Businesses, and Consumers

The Office of the Medicaid Inspector General today premiered a redesigned Internet site.  The Web site (www.omig.ny.gov) gets tens of thousands of hits every months from people wanting information on everything from reporting fraud to finding out whether a person has been excluded from Medicaid and has been redesigned and improved for easier navigation, according to an announcement from Medicaid Inspector General James C. Cox.  Specific new tailored sections have been designed for Medicaid providers and consumers, as well as taxpayers and businesses.

The Office of the Medicaid Inspector General looks for fraud and abuse in the New York State Medicaid program.  The Web site offers a one-stop-shopping approach for anyone who needs assistance or has information on potential instances of fraud or abuse that may be occurring in New York’s vast Medicaid program.

“Our Web site is a critical communications center for providers who need to know whether a person is eligible for employment because he or she may have been excluded from the Medicaid program,” Cox said.  “Consumers, taxpayers, and businesses will also find a multitude of resources on the site.”

The first major item to be posted on the new site was OMIG’s 2013-14 Work Plan, which contains information about areas of focus for the agency during the current state fiscal year.

The new design is the culmination of many months of work by OMIG staff to enhance both the site’s appearance and user-friendly capacity.  Providers, taxpayers, businesses, and consumers each have portals containing specific items of interest to those groups.
