Finishing Trades Recruit Apprentices |

Ithaca, NY (March 7, 2016) – The Finishing Trades Institute of Western and Central New York (Ithaca) will conduct a recruitment from April 6, 2016 through March 1, 2017 for five painter, decorator, and paperhanger apprentices and five glazier apprentices, the New York State Department of Labor announced today. Please note that the openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for three recruitment regions, the Central, Mohawk Valley, and Southern Tier regions. This program’s jurisdiction includes the counties of Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga, and Tompkins. Applications can be obtained on the Finishing Trades’ website, www.dc4.org, and mailed to: FTI of W & CNY, 585 Aero Drive, Cheektowaga, NY 14225. Applicants who apply by mail will be contacted to schedule an interview. Applications can also be obtained and submitted in person from the location noted below. This location holds open recruitment sessions once a month, as detailed below. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
