The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced it will be accepting public comments on a proposed plan for remediation of Solvay Waste Beds 1-8 (Operable Unit 1), a 400-acre, inactive hazardous waste site on Onondaga Lake. The 30-day public comment period will run through Oct. 17.

DEC will host a public meeting on the proposed plan on Sept. 30^th at the State Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Blvd, Syracuse, in the Martha Eddy Room in the Art and Home Center. The meeting will feature an open house from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by a formal presentation on the plan. The public will then have an opportunity to ask questions about the proposed remediation plan and offer oral or written comments.
