NYS Office of General Services Celebrates Black History Month at the Empire State Plaza

WHAT: Join the NYS Office of General Services in celebrating Black History Month at an event featuring soul food from Allie B’s Cozy Kitchen, a craft show, a variety of vendors showcasing their products and services, and a performance by DJ Intell Hayesfield. Admission is free.

Those attending the event will also have the opportunity to view a series of exhibits and displays at the Empire State Plaza that celebrate the history, accomplishments, and culture of New York State’s Black communities.

Black History Month displays at the Plaza include those devoted to:

  • New York State’s 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Art & Essay Exhibit.
  • NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s “The Journey to the North — New York’s Freedom Trail”
  • The historic Rapp Road Community in the Pine Bush section of Albany
  • The 369th Veteran’s Association

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 15.

WHERE: Empire State Plaza south concourse (between the main food court and the entrance to the Corning Tower)

Sponsors include the New York State Office of Mental Health and Upstate New York Black Chamber of Commerce.
