Hugh L. Carey Tunnel Brooklyn Plaza Lane Closures Start Jan 5th, 2017

Work will begin at the Brooklyn plaza of the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel at 8pm on Thursday night, January 5, to remove the now defunct toll booths and supporting structures, following the implementation of cashless tolling on January 4th.

During this round-the-clock closure, demolition work will proceed in two stages, closing several toll lanes during each stage. Work will start on the far-right toll lanes facing the Manhattan-bound East tube, and proceed until all booths and islands have been cleared and the roadway resurfaced. The expected completion for this work is before the end of January, 2017, weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to expect northbound delays and plan accordingly.

Motorists can sign up for MTA e-mail or text alerts at www.mta.info and check the Bridges and Tunnels homepage or Facebook page for the latest information.
