Ski Jumpers Vie for U.S. Cup

Ski Jumping & Fireworks Highlight the New Year Celebration

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Celebrate the New Year—Lake Placid style. Watch the high-flying action as ski jumpers launch themselves from the top of the 90-meter ski jump and soar the length of a football, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 28-29, in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Several of the United States’ top up-and-coming ski jumpers return to the famed Olympic Jumping Complex to vie for U.S. Cup titles and for a spot on the U.S. Junior World Championship Team. The U.S. Cup and Junior World Team trials begin both days with first round action at 10 a.m., followed by second round jumping at 10:45 a.m. and the Nordic Combined race at 2 p.m.

Following Saturday’s competition, stick around for more breath-taking excitement off the 90-meter tower when these athletes participate in a special one-night only ski jumping exhibition, presented by Paul Smith’s College, at 6 p.m., followed by fireworks at 7 p.m.

Two-day adult tickets are available at the Olympic Jumping Complex’s box office for just $26. Junior and senior two-day tickets are being sold for $16.

Single-day adult tickets are $16 and single-day junior and senior tickets are being sold for $10. Belleayre, Gore, Whiteface Mountain and Mt. Van Hoevenberg season pass holders and those who purchase the Olympic Sites Passport receive free admission. Children six and under also receive free admission.
