One-Day, Virtual Meeting Will Combine Regular Monthly Board Meeting with Committee Meetings

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will hold a one-day, virtual joint monthly meeting of the MTA Board and the Board’s committees on Wednesday, May 20, at 10 a.m.

Chairman Patrick J. Foye will convene a joint meeting of the MTA Board and the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad, New York City Transit, MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Finance, Audit, Diversity, and Capital Program Oversight Committees. Materials for the monthly meeting of the Capital Program Oversight Committee will be posted online only. New Yorkers are encouraged to visit https://new.mta.info/transparency/board-and-committee-meetings/may-2020 to view the meeting online.

The public comment period of the monthly board meeting will also be transformed into a virtual comment period to ensure the public has an opportunity to participate. The MTA will collect public comments via video and phone on Monday, May 18. Those who wish to participate will have the opportunity to register on Monday, May 18, between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., online at https://new.mta.info/transparency/board-and-committee-meetings/may-2020. Registrants will receive an email notice with a link that will allow them to make comments beginning at noon on May 18. In keeping with MTA rules, each speaker will have two minutes of airtime. Participants are required to adhere to the MTA’s Code of Conduct. The first 30 minutes of public comment will be delivered at the board meeting and the remainder will be posted online and made available to the Board and public on May 20.

Members of the media can view the meeting online at the link noted above. The MTA will hold a virtual conference with reporters in lieu of the standard MTA press conference following the meeting.
