ADVISORY: Governor Hochul Will Join MTA Leadership and Elected Officials for Tour of Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 Tunnel

Governor Kathy Hochul will join leaders from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and elected officials for a tour of the Second Avenue Subway tunnel north of the 96th St q subway station in East Harlem as the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) works to move the project's grant request into the next phase.

With the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which President Biden signed this week, $23 billion is available for new grant opportunities for transit expansion projects, including the Second Avenue Subway Phase 2 application to expand service to 125th St. Members of the media will have the opportunity to gather photos and b-roll following remarks.

PLEASE NOTE: All attendees must wear a mask or face covering, regardless of vaccination status, along with appropriate footwear (work boots, hiking boots, etc.). Additional PPE including hard hat and vest will be provided before entering hatch down to tunnel.

Enter the sidewalk entrance hatch on west side of Second Avenue between 112th and 113th Streets. 

Media must arrive by 9:35 a.m. and will be escorted to the project site by members of the MTA Press Office.
